Farther along, we’ll understand why

Farther along, we’ll understand why

Everyone knows the old saying about the two things we can be assured of in life are death and taxes. While we know it is coming, death is hard on us. It goes without saying really that the death of someone you love brings a different kind of pain than just about anything else.

This past week alone, there has been more death around me than my mind would allow me to process. It all brings back to me the questions I have had so often of our Father in Heaven. I still ask Him “why” on a fairly regular basis.

This past week, one of our team here lost her brother. The pain and hurt was palpable as she called to tell me of her family’s loss. Following that I was notified of the passing of a good friend, another lost to the demon and scourge known as cancer. Just a day later I had to take our family pet to the vet to be sent on to doggie heaven. He was 17, an old codger in dog terms, and he will be missed. And then today came the news that another colleague had lost his teenage son.
