City Administrator Wayne Dial pleased with the state of the city

New Boston City Administrator Wayne Dial has a couple of months under his belt in his new position, and says he is pleased with the state of the city. “I have found a hardworking and dedicated staff here at the city, and we are benefitting from the excellent staff that was already in place when I got here,” he said. With former City Administrator Liz Lea’s days coming to an end, Dial says he is excited about the future of New Boston. “Although Liz will stay on in the capacity of a consultant for a short time, she has served the city well during her time here.”

The City of New Boston did see a tax increase this year, but at .36, still remains the lowest municipal tax rate in Bowie County. Dial said that rising operating costs of everything from materials to fuel made the increase necessary. “We are doing more with less with the cost of inflation,” he said. The city is currently fully staffed, employing 49 people in various capacities, including police, fire, mowing, courts, water department, administration, public works, two wastewater treatment plants, collection and distribution, and streets.
