The Scent of Jesus
The man’s eyes were deep green, like marble. His ears were attentive to my words as he held a brown puppy, cuddling the tiny creature. And yes, I, too, became alert to his peering gaze. I stood close to him but spoke with a new friend nearby, listening to her continued statements of loss, her journey, her hopes, a n d her ending up in Texarkana.
