City leaders in New Boston will be exploring the idea of moving the downtown water tower. In their regular monthly meeting, City Administrator Wayne Dial explored the idea of moving the downtown water tower, which was only in use for a brief time after its construction, to the Glass Hill area to improve water pressure in that part of town. The tower was constructed and designed by Texas Water Utilities, but was taken out of service soon after, due to design flaws.
Also, a project to build a holding tank at the water tower at the Barry Telford Unit is in the works. This will allow the installation of shut-off valves in the event of maintenance or service issues.
In addition, the city will begin the bid process to install a chain link fence around the maintenance barn at Elm Street to deter thefts at that site.
