New Boston City Council reviews 9-1-1 protocols

New Boston resident Wendy Canfield had several questions for the New Boston City Council in their regular monthly meeting last Tuesday. Canfield recently had to call 911 for an elderly relative that was sick and in respiratory distress. According to Canfield, when she asked if a first responder would be dispatched, she was told that they would not.

A LifeNet ambulance responded to the incident, and the patient was transported within an hour of the initial call.

Canfield questioned city leaders on the status of the New Boston VFD’s first responder license, the lack of availability of proof of the fire chief’s licenses, and whether or not there is a plan to bring both the department and individual members into compliance with Texas Department of State Health Services Regulations.
