Hornets fall short in comeback to Roughnecks

Spotlight Game of the Week

The Hooks Hornets faced the White Oak Roughnecks in a shootout on the diamond on last Friday and it was the Roughnecks that came out on top in the end after a fierce comeback by the Hornets fell short.

After a three run first inning for the Roughnecks the Hornets responded in the bottom of the second with a two run ground ball hit by Matthew Hays allowing Ripken Birdwell and Hudson Davis to score. The next at bat was another run scored for the Hornets when a balk by White Oak’s pitcher and a single by Carter Harris allowed for Hays to cross home plate. Harris would score later in the inning after a single hit by Jake Ledford bringing the score to 3-5, Hornets leading.
