Construction on new sidewalks along sections of Elm Street and Lion Drive in New Boston is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 10.
The new sidewalks will be constructed along Elm Street from Tapp Park to Front Street and along Lion Drive from College Street to Elm Street. A pedestrian bridge will be constructed at the creek crossing on the north side of Tapp Park. According to the contractor, Blackstone Concrete Ventures, LLC of Lubbock, crews will begin construction on Elm Street at Tapp Park, and work will occur between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Workers may also be present on some Saturdays.
The sidewalks will make the area around New Boston High School, Tapp Park and downtown more pedestricould an-friendly. The sidewalks will also include accessible ramps and roadway crossings that meet current Americans with Disabilities Act Standards for Accessible Design and Texas Accessibility Standards.
