Longtime educator James Brewer passed away in his home in Longview Monday afternoon, July 10, 2023, after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.
Mr. Brewer spent 17 years of his 40-year career in education at the DeKalb Independent School District from 1990 to 2007, before moving to share his life and talents with the Longview ISD in 2008. Brewer first served the DISD as a track coach and assistant principal and later served as the Superintendent of DeKalb ISD for 10 years from 1997 to 2007.
