DeKalb business owners got the chance recently to share their thoughts on how the government can better serve their area.
U.S. Representative Nathanial Moran, Rep. District 1, came to Bowie County Equipment on July 24 to address their concerns.
“What I’m hearing across the district is one of the number one issues for businesses is the need for more skilled and qualified workers. That’s one of the things that we’re working on at the Education Workforce Committee is trying to make sure we can provide the opportunity for kids to follow their dreams, to do what they want to do, but also be able to do that through traditional college or no college at all or community college or just gaining a certification or trade. We want to have all of those doors open so kids can follow their dreams and so that businesses will have the skills that they need to fill the positions they have. Frankly, you can’t open and grow a business if you don’t have the workers,” Moran said.
