Two Bowie County schools were among six East Texas schools to receive funds to help students find careers in high-demand occupations.
Redwater Independent School District and Texarkana College each received checks from the Job and Education for Texans Grant program through the Texas Workforce Commission.
The JET program provides funds for equipment to eligible state educational institutions to develop career and technical educational courses that lead to a license, certificate or post-secondary degree and may include courses offering dual-credit and technical education programs. Texas public junior, state and technical colleges, ISDs, open-enrollment charter schools and the state penal school district. The program dispersed about $8.6 million across the state, with $1.5 million staying in East Texas.
