JAMES WELDON CULPEPPER

James Culpepper, age 75, passed from this world on September 4, 2023 at his home in De Kalb, Texas.

James was born September 13, 1947 in Atlanta, Texas to Weldon and Opal Culpepper. James was in the Army and served his country in the Vietnam War.

James was preceded in death by his son, Curtis Culpepper; parents, Weldon and Opal Culpepper; brothers, Randy and Carel Culpepper; sister-in-law, Glenda Culpepper; nephews, Steve Culpepper and Paul Culpepper; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Theo and Fannie Reynolds.

James is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Wanda Culpepper of De Kalb, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Wade Burns of De Kalb, Texas; three grandchildren and a step grandson, Jason Barron (Brandi Hale), Karley Barron (Chance Cisneros) and Connor Barron of Horatio, Arkansas and Dalton Burns of San Diego, California; three sisters, Frances Forrester of New Boston, Texas, Linda Raney of Frisco, Texas and Anna Lou Inman of De Kalb, Texas; two brothers and sisters- in-law, David and Josie Culpepper of Simms, Texas and Mike and Caren Culpepper of Avery, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 8, 2023 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Rev. Steve Minter officiating. Interment will follow at Wards Creek Cemetery in Simms, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
