RICKY JOE MCCLARAN

Rickey Joe McClaran of New Boston, Texas passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023 at a Texarkana, Texas hospital. He was 67 years old.

Rickey was born on September 14th, 1955 in New Boston, Texas, to Paul Ellis and Melba Jo Franks McClaran.

On August 26, 1978 he was married to Juanita Rose Dunson in New Boston, Texas.

Rickey was retired from Red River Army Depot where he served as a mechanic and a Recreation Specialist at Elliott Lake for 46 years. He was of the Christian faith, was an excellent mechanic, and had a passion for helping others, and he was a sports fanatic.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melba Jo Franks McClaran and Paul Ellis McClaran; his paternal grandparents, Clyde Ellis McClaran and Dolly Grider McClaran; maternal grandparents, Cleve and Daisy Franks; sister, Dena Ann Dunson.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Juanita McClaran of New Boston, Texas; son and daughter-in-law Ronnie Jo and Miranda McClaran of New Boston, Texas; Ronnie Jo’s God Father, Ronnie Chisum of Okinawa, Japan; brother and sister-in-law Larry Paul and Bridget McClaran of Malta, Texas; brother-in-law Tony Dunson; special nieces include, Savannah Quinn, Kinsey Dunson, Emilia Kay Akins; special nephews include, Clark and Thomas Quinn, and Chris Candelaria; special friends include, Sid Cockrell, Shauna Gerber, Teesa Stockmann, Amanda Bell, Doug White, Alex Kugler, Kyle Edwards, and Steven Fowler; special cousins include, Jane Forrester and Carolyn McClaran and many other special friends and co-workers that he loved dearly.

Memorial for Rickey will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas. The family requests that everyone wear sports apparel.
