The race for the district title came to a close last Friday night with the Hooks Hornets named champion for the fourth time in five years with a 46-12 victory. The De Kalb Bears will finish in the number two spot after the loss.
The Hornet’s offense remained as explosive as ever. Ripken Birdwell had another big night completing 10 of 10 passes for 251 yards and three touchdowns while rushing 11 times for 81 yards and another pair of touchdowns.
Three Hornet receivers had a big night. Emmanuel “Emann” Baird led the core with four receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown. Rod Bailey followed with two receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown. Jatavious “Boogie” Johnson had three receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown.
