Tribune photo by Susan Lindsey The driver of a semi hauling logs to Ashdown, Arkansas, lost his load around 11 a.m. Friday. The incident happened at the intersection of Interstate 30 East and Texas Highway 8 North. The driver said he was turning from the ramp onto Hwy 8 when he heard a popping sound and saw the trailer tipping toward the east side of the bridge. Officials said the bed of the trailer came loose from the axles after the cables connecting the load scales broke. The truck remained upright and the driver was unharmed. No other vehicles were involved. Southbound Hwy 8 traffic was brought to one lane coming over the bridge to the intersection as northbound traffic was diverted into the southbound turn lane until the wreckage could be cleared from the roadway.
