Going into his first year as the head coach of the Redwater Dragons Baseball team, Cody Engstrom is on a mission to transform his team into an old school, scrappy group of athletes.
“We’re going to be dirtbags”, said Engstrom. “That term may be taken differently these days because people may not know that old school baseball term.” “We’re going to put nine dirtbags on the field that are going to give 110 percent every play and they’re not going to get outworked”, said Engstrom. “We’re going to handle adversity better than anybody in the state. The core of that identity is to play old school baseball.”
“I consider myself to be that style of baseball coach”, said Engstrom. “We are going to put pressure on the other team’s defenses, we’re going to play small ball. We’re going to run the bases and focus on putting pressure on the other teams to make plays.”
