NEWMON HODGSON

Newmon Hodgson, of De Kalb, Texas, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 at a Texarkana, Texas care facility. He was 98.

Newmon was born April 1, 1925, in De Kalb, Texas, to Leonard Odis and Bertha Mae Smith Hodgson. He retired from Red River Army Depot where he worked as a Supervisor in the Supply Division. Newmon was a member of First Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, a member of the American Disabled Veterans and a member of American Legion Post #488 in New Boston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Louise Baswell Hodgson; a son, Terry Hodgson; a daughter, Miline Hodgson; three sisters, Dovie Mathews, Lula Farra and Ann Hodgson; and five brothers, Odis S. Hodgson, Walter S. Hodgson, Floy Hodgson, B.C. Hodgson and Joe Hodgson.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Mashburn Hodgson of De Kalb, Texas; four granddaughters, Kim Hansche of Texarkana, Texas, Darica Hodgson of Texarkana, Texas, Kim Kinney and her husband, Kelly of De Kalb, Texas and Kristy Taylor of Texarkana, Arkansas; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, John and Sue Hodgson of Louisiana, Jimmy Hodgson of Gilmer, Texas and Lynn and Chris Hodgson of Daingerfield, Texas; great grandchildren, Shelby Hansche and her husband, Jacob, Hagen Power, Kaitlan Kinney, Klayton Kinney, Madison Atchley and Corbin Atchley; a great great grandson, Elijah Lunsford; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at First Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas with Rev. James Sparks officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at First Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 204 W. Fulton St., De Kalb, Texas 75559.
