MARY EMMA CLINTON

Mary Emma Clinton of De Kalb, Texas passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at a New Boston, Texas care facility. She was 95.

Mary was born December 8, 1928 in the County Line Community of De Kalb, Texas to Dewey B. and Bonnie Miles Caraway. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in De Kalb, where she was active with the United Methodist Women and the Methodist Children’s Home in Waco. Mary was a long time educator, serving the Cedar Creek, Hubbard, New Boston and De Kalb school districts. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and was a De Kalb Noble Heart recipient. Mary loved her students and her “kids” and there are many in this part of Bowie County that she claimed as hers. She touched many lives over the years and will be missed by all that had the pleasure to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donnie Clinton.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Chris Moser of De Kalb, Texas; one son and daughter-inlaw, Mike and Martha Clinton of Texarkana, Texas; five grandchildren, Clint Moser, Chris Clinton and his wife, Rheana, Mike Clinton and his fiancé, Jessica, Kelli Mc-Nally and her husband, Will, and Michelle Cherry and her husband, David; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 17, 2024 at First United Methodist Church in De Kalb, Texas with Rev. Amanda Stratton officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 17, 2024 at First United Methodist Church in De Kalb, Texas.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Methodist Children’s Home, c/o First United Methodist Church, PO Box 396, De Kalb, Texas.
