GENE DAVIS

Gene Davis of De Kalb, Texas passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024 at a Ft. Worth, Texas care facility. He was 87.

Gene was born August 13, 1936 in De Kalb, Texas to C.G. and Jennie Tucker Davis. On July 10, 1959 he was married to June Davis in Linden, Texas. He was a Veteran of the United States Army National Guard, and a retired Superintendent of Malta ISD. Gene was a member of First Baptist Church in De Kalb where he served as Deacon and church treasurer. He was a member of West Bowie Retired Teachers Association and a lifetime member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June Davis; one brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Mary Ann Davis; and one grandson, Kenten Lowrie.

He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Darla and Fred Diorio of Roanoke, Texas and Ginger Lowrie of Roanoke, Texas; two grandsons, Derek Diorio and his wife, Melissa of Roanoke, Texas and Kendel Lowrie of Roanoke, Texas; two granddaughters, Haley Vargas and her husband, Chris of Roanoke, Texas and Makenzie Francisco and her husband, Caleb of Ft. Worth, Texas; four great children, Emmalyn June Diorio, Lyla Diorio, Everleigh Francisco, and Elliott Francisco; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and life-long friends, Arvie Joe Owen and Wayne Rhea.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.

Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, March 8, 2024 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
