JOSEPH (JOE) MARTIN
Obituaries
March 20, 2024
JOSEPH (JOE) MARTIN

Joseph (Joe) Martin of New Boston died Sunday, March 10, 2024 in a Dallas, Texas hospital from a recent illness. He was 88 years old.

Joe was born July 14, 1935 in New Boston. He worked as a loyal employee for over 47 years at Shelton Feed and Fertilizer. But he was much more than an employee; he was a beloved member of the Shelton Family as far back as the oldest grandchild can remember. He played countless games of Hide and Seek and never tired of giving rides on the dolly in the back of the Feed Store. He gathered for family birthdays and holidays with all the rest of the family. He was a faithful member of New Boston Church of Christ.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph W. Martin and his mother, Allie Beatrice Smith Martin.

He is survived by one sister, Bernice Martin Dalby of DeKalb, Texas.

The family will welcome visitors at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Bates-Rolf Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. with Ernest Shelton and Brett Shelton officiating. The burial will be in New Boston Cemetery immediately following the services.
