Incumbents had the most success in local municipal elections today, with the lone incumbent earning a seat being Shaka Shavers Bowie who handily won the New Boston City Council Place 2 seat.
In New Boston, Bowie won her race against incumbent Donald Evans by a vote of 192 to 60.
Mayor Ron Humphrey and councilman Steve Williams ran unopposed and kept their seats in New Boston leadership.
In DeKalb, incumbent Sarabeth Walker held onto her council seating soundly defeating her challenger Dustin Jacops by a vote of 66 to 11.
Mayor Lowell Walker and council person Brenda Smith ran unopposed and kept their seats in DeKalb city government.
In Hooks, incumbent mayor Marc Reiter won his race in the City of Hooks. Reiter remains the Mayor of Hooks with 71 votes. Challenger Greg Rowe had 23 votes and challenger Robert Crews had 37.
On the race for Hooks City Council, Place 5, Janet Stoker kept her seat with a vote total of 91 to 38 over challenger Cosman Jones.
