Bowie County Master Gardeners & Texas A&M – Texarkana Present: “Getting Into Freeze Drying”

The Bowie County Master Gardeners and Texas A&M-Texarkana’s Extended Education and Community Development Department will host the program “Getting Into Freeze Drying” on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The event is free and open to the public. The class will take place in the University Building, Room 326.  No reservation is required to attend.

The program will be presented by LouAnn Rollins, Family and Community Health Agent for Titus County. Ms. Rollins teaches classes on safely preserving food using a variety of methods.

Freeze drying is very popular right now. People freeze dry fruits, vegetables, and even meats for long term storage that is not dependent on electricity to keep the food preserved over time. Lots of snacks and candies are being freeze dried as well and offered for sale in stores and through roadside vendors.

If you have been thinking about freeze drying your garden bounty, make plans to join us on Monday, May 13th as we ‘Get Into Freeze Drying’.

This promises to be a great program! Come with your questions as a question-and-answer period will follow the presentation.

For more information, call the Bowie County Extension Office at 903.628.6702 or Jennifer Davis at Texas A&M-Texarkana at 903.334.6752.
