Bowie County Master Gardeners & Texas A&M – Texarkana Present: “Watering Your Lawn and Garden Wisely”

The Bowie County Master Gardeners and Texas A&M-Texarkana’s Extended Education and Community Development Department will host the program “Watering Your Lawn and Garden Wisely” on Monday, July 8, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The event is free and open to the public. The class will take place in the University Building, Room 326.  No reservation is required to attend.

The program will be presented by Dean Minchillo, Extension Program Specialist with the Texas Water Resources Institute in Dallas.

How much should I water my lawn? Am I overwatering? Am I underwatering? What is the best way to water my garden? These are common questions that people have regarding irrigation in the garden and landscape.

Did you know that watering your lawn longer but less frequently can encourage grass roots to grow deeper into the soil, strengthening the grass and making it more able to withstand high temperatures and times of drought? Come out and learn more with your friends and neighbors.

Did you know that applying water in the garden smartly through drip irrigation can result in reduced weed pressure, healthy plants, and a lower water bill? This promises to be a great program! Come with your water-related questions as a question-and-answer period will follow the presentation.

For more information, call the Bowie County Extension Office at 903.628.6702 or Jennifer Davis at Texas A&M-Texarkana at 903.334.6752.
