HAZEL JEAN LOVE

Hazel Jean Love of De Kalb, Texas passed away Monday, August 12, 2024 at a New Boston, Texas care facility.

She was 94.

Jean was born July 13, 1930 in Breckenridge, Texas to Roy and Jessie Ballard Finley. She was a retired Explosive Operator and Leader for Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant. Jean was a member of Keep De Kalb Beautiful and the De Kalb Garden Club. She was a Sunday school teacher and long time member of First Baptist Church of De Kalb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Marilyn Barron; one son, Virgil Rankin, Jr.; one brother, Gilbert Rankin; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Rankin; and one granddaughter, Joey Kaye Rankin.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy Rankin and Richard Marhofer of New Braunfels, Texas; one son, Jackie Love of Simms, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Wayne Rhea of De Kalb, Texas; one brother, Cecil Finley of Bryan, Texas; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 16, 2024 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with James Sparks officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.

Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 16, 2024 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 204 West Fulton, De Kalb, TX 75559.
