JAMES EVERETT FARMER PAYNE (JEFF)

James Everett Farmer Payne (Jeff) passed away August 31, 2024, at a care facility in Texarkana, Texas. He was 87.

Jeff was born May 6, 1937, in Corsicana, Texas to Everett (Whitie) and Geneva Conner Payne. He was the retired owner/operator of J-W Payne Construction Co., Ltd.

Jeff was a member of First Baptist Church of New Boston and the Ronny Looney Sunday School class. He was a lifetime member of the Associated General Contractors of Texas. Jeff’s hobbies included his cars, spending time on the ranch, riding around with his dogs and checking the cattle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son Jeffrey Payne.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Melda, his children Jill (Dale) Whittington, Jana Storey, Denise (David) McDaniel all of New Boston, Texas. Grandchildren, Lindsey (Jon) Richey, Braden (Kim) McDaniel, Conley (Amber) Hennigan, Spencer (Harli) McDaniel and Elijah Payne; Nine Great Grandchildren; Sisters Mary Ruth Lowe and Carolyn (Eddie) Matthews. Numerous other relatives and friends and life long friend, Willie Lee Alexander.

Graveside Services for Mr. Payne will be Monday, September 2, 2024, at 10 a.m., at Read Hill Cemetery, New Boston, Texas, with Bro. Augustine Alaniz officiating.

The family request memorials be made to Read Hill Cemetery Association, c/o Michael Hawron, 1300 South Bowie Street, New Boston, Texas 75570.
