BONNIE GAULDEN HODGES

Bonnie Gaulden Hodges, of DeKalb, Texas passed away November 13, 2024. She was 94.

Bonnie was born on September 13, 1930, in DeKalb, Texas to Sam and Lanie Gaulden. On January 28, 1951, she was married to Don Hodges in De Kalb, Texas. They were married 66 years, celebrating each anniversary with a hamburger.

She was a homemaker, always cooking and caring for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and spent every summer shucking corn, shelling peas and canning tomatoes. She taught children’s Sunday school at DeKalb First Baptist Church for many years.

She is preceded in death by her husband and parents, two sisters, Bunice Harmon and Ola Williams, one brother, Cecil Gaulden, a son-in-law, George Hutson and three great-grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth and Breona Hutson and Reagan Lynch.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Hutson; two sons, Dr. David and Terri Hodges and Blake and Lynn Hodges; grandchildren and their spouses, Benjamin and Durinda Hutson, Bonnie and David Putman, Betsy and Ryan Lynch, Brett and Kristen Hutson, Blair Hodges; Sam Hodges and John and Erica Hodges; great-grandchildren, Eden, Rylie, Carter and Elijah Hutson; Annelise and Kensi Putman; Evie and Elisabeth Lynch; Shiloh Hutson; Benjamin Jack and Henry Hodges; and numerous other relatives and friends. A special thank you to the many caretakers at Autumn Winds and Chambers Hospice who loved her and cared for her in her final years.

Services were held Monday, November 18, 2024, at 10:00 AM at DeKalb First Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas with Bro. James Sparks officiating. Interment followed at Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.

Visitation was held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.

Memorials may be made to DeKalb First Baptist Church for the Bonnie Gaulden Hodges Children’s Endowment Fund.
