GEORGE EDWARD CARR

George Edward Carr, 78, of New Boston, Texas, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, at St Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. He was born on June 1, 1946, in McDaniels, Kentucky, to Armey Bernice Carr and Jane Rhodes Carr.

On May 10, 1968, George married the love of his life, Glenda Sue Cockrell, in New Boston, Texas. Together they built a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories. George proudly served his country in the United Staters Army before beginning a long career as an electric installer with GTE.

A devoted Catholic, George was a faithful member of St. Mary’s of the Cenacle in New Boston, Texas. He also had a passion for motorcycles and was a proud member of the Harley-Davidson Owners Group.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved daughter, Cindy Marie Carr.

George is survived by his wife of 56 years, Glenda Carr of New Boston, Texas; one brother, John L. Carr of Merritt Island, Florida; one sister, Mary Beth Mercer and husband James of McDaniels, Kentucky; one brother-in-law, Larry Wayne Cockrell of Liberty Eylau, Texas; one sister-inlaw, Lori Jane Clark of New Boston, Texas; He also leaves behind many other relatives, including several nieces and nephews, who will cherish his memory.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M.Saturday, February 15, 2025 at St. Mary’s of the Cenacle in New Boston, Texas. Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday, February 14, 2025 with Rosary beginning at 6:00 P.M. at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.

George will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s of the Cenacle in New Boston, Texas. Online registration at www.batesfamilyfuneralhome.com.
