Lady Bears continue win streak, Brown tops 100 K’s

The 8th ranked DeKalb Lady Bears continued their relentless winning ways last week with a pair of wins including the 16-1 trouncing of the Atlanta Lady Rabbits on Friday.

DeKalb hurler Kaydee Brown topped 100 strikeouts for the season and 300 for her career last week as she notched 10 k’s versus the Lady Rabbs.

The Lady Bears were on fire at the plate as Mackenzye Carpenter had four RBI’s followed by Addison Starrett with three and Brown also had three including a dinger.

The Lady Bears are scheduled to face off with the Redwater Lady Dragons on Friday at 6 p.m. in Redwater.

The #20 ranked Hooks Lady Hornets enjoyed a 14-3 run-rule win over the visiting North Lamar Pantherettes on Friday. The Lady Hornets racked up 13 hits in the contest while Stella Fincher got the win on the mound allowing just three hits and one earned run.

The Maud Lady Cardinals earned a #1 state ranking last week before splitting a pair of games with Linden-Kildare.

On Thursday, at L-K, the Lady Cards battled for a 16-3 win as Keira Mangtamag rapped four hits in five plate appearances to lead the way for her squad that had 20 hits in the contest.

On Friday, Maud suffered their first loss as L-K beat them 5-2 behind a 12 hit performance.

The Lady Cards will be back in action this Friday at Harts Bluff.

The James Bowie Lady Pirates notched an 11-9 win over Paul Pewitt on Friday as Abigail Dial hit for the cycle and drove in five runs to lead the Lady Pirates. Tatum Tyndell earned the win for James Bowie as the starter allowed no hits and one run.

In baseball action last week, the New Boston Lions dropped two in a double header with the James Bowie Pirates on Friday. The Pirates scored three times in the bottom of the 4th to come from behind and grab the win in the first game of the day.

In the second game of the double header, James Bowie’s Nate Potter had four hits in five at bats to pace the Pirates who had 19 hits in the 15-10 win.

The Pirates will be at Linden-Kildare this Friday while the Lions will host Queen City with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.

The DeKalb Bears won one of three in tournament action over the weekend with a 7-3 win over Winnsboro on Friday.

In the game, Walker Matteson went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI’s to pace the Bears at the plate and also earned the win on the bump as he allowed seven hits and one earned run and struck out five.

Jaylen White, Jake Payne and Mason Salinas also had RBI’s in the win for the Bears.

The Bears are scheduled to be at Redwater this Friday with game time scheduled for 7 p.m.
