TONY SHUMAKE

Tony Shumake, born July 6, 1962, entered into eternal rest on May 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Tony was a man of deep faith, boundless love, and a heart full of laughter.

A proud member and deacon of Pinkham Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, Tony lived his life rooted in his love for the Lord. His faith was the foundation of everything he did, and his strength and compassion left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Barbara Shumake; his cherished daughters, Lacey (Trey) Mullins and Kelsey (Levi) McDermott; his treasured grandchildren, Jalena McDermott, Hanna Mullins, Livia McDermott, Hayden Mullins, and Kaylynn McDermott; his devoted brother, Wade (Debbie) Shumake; and his dear sister, Jana (Mike) Ford. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Wilene Shumake, his uncle, Roger Shumake, and his beloved sons, Timothy and Nick Shumake whose memories he carried with him always.

In addition to his deep love for his family and his steadfast faith, Tony will be fondly remembered for his playful spirit and mischievous sense of humor. A true prankster at heart, he could light up the room with laughter and never missed a chance to share a joke or pull a lighthearted trick-always with that unforgettable grin. His laughter was contagious, and his joy in life was a gift to everyone around him.

Tony’s love for his family was fierce and unwavering, and his presence was a steady, comforting force. He showed us how to walk with faith, love deeply, and not take life too seriously.

A celebration of Tony’s life will be held Monday, May 19, 2025 at 11:00 A.M., at Pinkham Memorial Missionary Baptist Church Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 19, at Pinkham Missionary Baptist Church. In honoring his memory, may we carry forward his legacy of love, laughter, and faith.

Memorials or donations may be made to Nick’s Mission Backpack Program, a cause close to Tony’s heart and continuation of his and his son’s compassionate legacy of service to others.

A heartfelt thank you to Chambers Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided to Tony and our family. Your kindness made all the difference.
