Happens Saturday!!!
The people of DeKalb will once again celebrate Juneteenth this year with a parade and a time for food, fun and fellowship for all. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. with the festivities to follow immediately after.
With the highway construction ongoing, the parade will take a different route this year. Parade participants are invited to gather at the county barn parking lot on Hwy. 82. From there the parade will leave out of the back entrance and flow east down MLK toward town. The parade will cross FM 2735 with help from the DeKalb Police Department and proceed down to Church Street. It will then turn on Church Street and end at the corner of Church Street and Fulton next to DeKalb First Baptist Church. Parade participants can disperce in the large parking lot in front of the church.
After the parade everyone is invited to head over to the old ballfield located at the DISD practice field on Grizzly for a day of food, fun and fellowship for all ages.
Mr. James Germany and Mr. Robby Bates will be the Grand Marshalls of this year’s DeKalb Juneteenth Parade. Anyone who would like to participate in the parade with a car, truck, ATV, float or horse is welcome to join.
