On June 19, 2025, the Simms VFD and Bowie County Deputies were dispatched to the 700 block of Private Road 42041 DeKalb, Texas for a suspicious death. When they arrived, they were informed  family members had been attempting to contact Donna Culpepper without success. The reporting person came by the residence of Charles Beckham where Mrs. Culpepper is sometimes known to be and found her deceased in the driveway of this home.

Deputies located a truck belonging to Mr. Beckham burned in the rear of this house. Investigators were called out and found Mr. Beckham also deceased on the property. There was evidence at the scene that indicates both victims’ deaths are homicides.

Mrs. Culpepper’s vehicle was not located. She was driving a gray 2025 Nissan Sentra with Illinois tag FP281446 rented from Enterprise Rent-A-Car. This vehicle has been entered as stolen.
