A multiple-vehicle crash near New Boston claimed the life of a Texarkana teen Friday afternoon.

Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the crash that happened about 2:15 p.m. Friday on State Highway 8 north of New Boston.

Kaden Allen, 19, of Texarkana, Texas, was driving a 2021 Dodge Charger south when he veered into the northbound lane for unknown reasons, said Sgt. Ethan Sartor, DPS spokesman. The Charger struck a log truck traveling north.

Allen was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger, Lane Smith, 19, also of Texarkana, refused treatment.

The driver of the log truck, Richie Delarosa, 29, of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, was uninjured, Sartor said.

The investigation is ongoing.
