With a playoff berth already sewn up, the Maud Cardinals were looking for momentum going into the “second season,” hoping to claim a win on Senior Night as fellow playoff team Rivercrest came to town last week.
The two teams played on even terms for most of the game, but the Cardinals finished with a strong fourth quarter as Maud closed the regular season with a 59-48 win over the Rebels.
Maud started the night honoring seniors Devin Myrtle, Cyrus Palmore and Lane Sultz, then ensured the trio would win their final game at Maud with 22 points in the fourth quarter. Rivercrest cut the Cardinal lead to three early in the quarter but Maud’s hot shooting continued throughout the final frame.
