Tournament action dominated the early days of the 2023 softball season this past week, as the Hooks Lady Hornets and DeKalb Lady Bears each saw their squads get off to great starts this year.
The DeKalb Lady Bears totally overpowered their opponents last week, blanking three different teams, outscoring them by a total of 35-0.
They started off by shutting out Liberty-Eylau 15-0 thanks to the arm of senior hurler Anijah Gray who tossed a no-hitter and struck out nine in three innings of work. Gray was also the big bat at the plate in the game for the Lady Bears going 3-for-3 and driving in four runs. The Lady Bears racked up 12 hits in all including multi-hit performances from Gray, Talisha Ingram and Jaylynn Haden. Haden also had a round-tripper in the game.
