New Boston & Hooks In the last regular season game of the year, the Hooks Hornets remained undefeated in district play. In their week 11 win over New Boston, Trip Baysinger completed 6 of 13 passes for 83 yards and a touchdown while rushing 3 times for 20 yards and a touchdown. Keyshawn Walls rushed 25 times for 212 yards and 3 touchdowns. Dontravipous Coulter rushed 6 times for 43 yards and a touchdown. Matthew Hays had 2 receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Logan Baker had one single tackle but assisted in 19 total tackles for the Hornets. Daniel Godfrey had 2 tackles, 8 assists and 4 tackles for a loss. Ripken Birdwell had 2 solo tackles and assisted in 19 tackles and 3 tackles for a loss. For the Lions, Jonah Sanchez had 3 rushes for 36 yards and a touchdown. Dontae Thompson had 11 rushes for 74 yards and a touchdown and 2 catches for 13 yards. Jomar Smith had 7 carries for 32 yards and a touchdown. Xavier Rowden completed 7 of 10 passes for 65 yards. The Lions came up short in the matchup falling to the Hornets 41-21. New Boston is 5-5 on the season and 4-2 in district. They enter the playoffs in third place and face off against Grand Saline (75) on Thursday November 10th in Mount Pleasant at 7:00 PM.
The Hornets improved to 8-2 on the season and were crowned undefeated district champions, their third district championship in four years. Hooks Junior Varsity and 8th grade teams were also crowned district champions. The Hornets matchup against Troup for the first round of the playoffs. The two teams will play at 7:30 on Friday November 11th in Ore City.
Redwater & DeKalb The DeKalb Bears sealed their fate as the 2nd place team in the district after their win over Redwater in week 11. Kiondre Schlesinger had 13 carries for 171 yards and 4 touchdowns for the Bears. Ross Tapley had 161 yards on 9 total carries. Kaleb Dooley 5 carries for 20 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Bear offensive line had a productive night. Tanner Hawkins had 3 knockdowns and 1 pancake and ended the night with a 97% grade. Tyler Hawkinshad 2 knockdowns and 1 Pancake and also ended with a grade of 97%. Zane Triplett had 2 Knockdowns for 95% grade. Defensively, Amar Love had 11 tackles and 2 Sacks. Tyler Hawkins had 13 tackles. Ross Tapley had 11 tackles, one tackle for a loss. Zaden White had 9 tackles and a fumble recovery. Conrad Crouch 5 tackles and an interception.
