Day 1 wrap up: The Lady Dragons fared well on day one of the New Diana Tournament, coming away with 2 wins.
In game one the Lady Dragons took on the Lady Eagles of Harmony. After a back and forth defensive battle, we took a one point lead into the intermission leading 14-13. The Lady Eagles would not go away easily and would outscore us 18-17 in the 2nd half, which took us to overtime. The overtime period proved to be no different than the rest of the game. The Lady Dragons held the rope and outscored the Lady Eagles 10-9 in OT to seal the deal, 41-40. The Lady Dragons were led by Karley Latham with 12 pts; Isabel Turner and Mattie Campbell with 8 pts; and Avery Waldrop with 7 pts. Other scorers for the Lady Dragons were Kydnlee Clark with 3 pts; Krysta Page with 2 pts; and Leila Tilbury with 1 pt.
In game two, a rematch with the Lady Indians of Avinger, the Lady Dragons came out with fire in their eyes defensively holding Avinger to just two points in the first qtr. The Lady Indians would not go quietly, however. They outscored us 17-11 in the 2nd qtr to bring the score to 26-19 in favor of the Lady Dragons at the intermission. We regrouped and came out the 2nd half and went back to work on the defensive end and went on to outscore the Lady Indians 22-18. The Lady Dragons held on to earn our 2nd victory of the day by a score of 48-37. Again, the Lady Dragons were led offensively by a dominating performance from Karley Latham with a 20 pts. Avery Waldrop also came up big this game chipping in 13 pts of her own. Other Lady Dragons on the board were Kyndlee Clark, Krysta Page, and Mattie Campbell, each with 4 pts; and Isabel Turner with 3 pts.
