New Boston The New Boston Lions rushed 32 times for 359 yards and 5 touchdowns in their week 10 victory over Chisum. Jomar Smith was the leading rusher for the Lions with 9 carries for 166 yards and 2 touchdowns. Dontae Thomspon had 4 carries for 75 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Ashton Rowden rushed 4 times for 45 yards and a touchdown. While the rain did affect both teams ability to pass, William Henson had a 25 yard reception for a touchdown. The Lion defense held Chisum to 1 score on the night. The game ended in the rain with a final score of 42-7 with the Lions improving to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in district. DeKalb & Hooks DeKalb and Hooks met for what has so far been the game of the year in Bowie County. A game that surely decided who would win the district was not won easily, especially in the cold and wet weather conditions in DeKalb. With rain pouring down, the DeKalb Bears rushed 49 times for 284 yards. Kiondre Schlesinger had 17 carries for 97 yards and 1 touchdown. Kaleb Dooley and Ja’Marcus Eastman both had a touchdown for the Bears. Defensively Ross Tapley had 12 tackles and a fumble recovery. Koby Spurgeon had 10 tackles, 2 for a loss and 1 sack. Conrad Crouch had 8 tackles and 1 interception. Tyler Hawkins had 7 tackles and caused a fumble. For the Hornets, Quarterback Trip Baysinger completed 9 of 14 passes for 217 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception while rushing 5 times for 20 yards and a touchdown. Keyshawn Walls rushed 25 times for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns. Carter Harris had 3 receptions for 126 yards and a touchdown. Jatavious Johnson had 5 receptions for 90 yards. Matthew Hays was 4/4 in extra points on the night. This proved to be an important statistic as the nail biter ended deep in the final seconds of the fourth quarter with a final score of 28-24, Hornets over Bears.
Hooks improved to 7-2 with a clean slate in district. The Bears dropped to 6-3 and picked up their first district loss of the season.
James Bowie The James Bowie Pirates remain undefeated in district as they improved to 7-2 overall in their week 10 road trip to Cumby. Lane Johnson was the leading rusher for the Pirates with 15 carries for 154 yards and 4 touchdowns. Dylan Braley followed with 20 carries for 117 yard scoring 1 touchdown and 3 two-point conversions. Logan McCullough and Cameron Hanna each had a touchdown for the Pirates. The Bowie defense held Cumby to just one score in their 50-8 victory. James Bowie plays Detroit at home this week, with a win they become undefeated district champions. Maud Week 10 came with another victory for the Cardinals, this time over Clarksville. The Cardinals rushed 38 times for 267 yards including a 7 yard touchdown run and a 3 yard touchdown run by Cason Leavitt, a 4 yard touchdown run and a 10 yard touchdown run by Devin Myrtle, A 3 yard touchdown run and a 37 yard touchdown run by Tristin Lee, and a 3 yard touchdown run by Gavin Mitchell. The Cardinal defense pitched their second shutout of the year as the offense kept the run game steady throughout the night. Final score 50-0 as Maud improves to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in district.
