High school football sees a split in wins and losses for the week

New Boston New Boston struggled to gain traction in Friday’s season opening game against the Jefferson Bulldogs. After a scoreless opening drive by the Lions, Jefferson was able to put 7 on the board during their first possession. A fumble on the Lion’s next possession gave the ball back to the Bulldogs on the Lion’s 32 yard line. New Boston would remain scoreless throughout all four quarters despite multiple long runs by #5 Kedarianta Sherman and lots of ball movement over top top by Quarterback Xavier Rowden. The Lion defense also showed some drive collecting 4 sacks, a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery. The final score was 43-0, Bulldogs over Lions.

Redwater

After starting the night with two scoreless drives by Redwater, the Dragons found themselves down 14-0 in the season opening game against the Waskom Wildcats. On Waskom’s third possession of the game, the Dragon defense made a play, and turned a fumble recovery into a touchdown and extra point putting them on the board. Waskom managed to score again before halftime bringing the score to 7-22. The Dragons managed a field goal just five minutes before halftime, this would be their last score of the night. While Redwater’s offense struggled, the Dragon defense managed two fumble recoveries in Friday’s game. Final score 36-10, Wildcats over Dragons.
