Waiting for the truth

Waiting for the truth

One of the worst things that our new, tech savvy, “upgraded” society has come to see is the prevalence of social media attacks, unbridled drama, and hatemongers. Social media has given a platform to a world of people who love to stir things up, create tension where there should be none, and give themselves a platform where a platform is undeserved.

We live in a world of “instant news” where anyone with a smartphone can post information, whether the information is needed and necessary, or not.

I remember vividly the day one of the worst, horrific crimes in Bowie County history occurred and members of the family found out from a social media post put out by people who didn’t care about anything other than sharing the tragic story and getting the traffic on their website. In my eyes, that is one of the absolute “criminal” examples of the unfettered attributes of social media.
