With rodeo season just around the corner, everyone is looking forward to another great two days full of fun and excitement for our community. The 50th Annual Pioneer Days Rodeo will be August 13-14, 2021. The annual rodeo is the main attraction and fundraiser for the New Boston Roundup Club for the year. The proceeds from this event allow them to promote and support other events throughout the year including clinics, barrel races, and youth events. The concession stand will be manned by Bowie County 4-H members. Other volunteers that will participate in this year’s festivities include New Boston Future Farmers of America, Simms Volunteer Fire Department and New Boston Soul Riders.
The rodeo will kick off with the Red Dirt Riders equestrian team from Texarkana at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, August 13th. They will be performing a patriotic routine that will include the Star Spangled Banner. The rodeo committee also hired a new announcer who will be riding horseback in the arena while announcing, dependent on the weather. Rodeo tickets are $10 dollars a piece and kids six and under get in free. Rodeo event entries will open Wednesday, August 4 at 9 a.m. and will close Sunday, August 8 at 5 p.m. For a call in entry you can call Wednesday and Thursday, August 4 and 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, August 6 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
