I would be remiss if I didn’t use this space this week to give a very large congratulations and a standing ovation to all of those who were involved in organizing and hosting the various Juneteenth events that were held this past week.
I had the personal privilege to be on hand to witness and photograph the Juneteenth parade in DeKalb, and I will tell right here that those folks over there put on a great eventand those that participated in the parade made sure it was a good one.
There was a large assortment of various vehicles in their parade, but I personally always love to see the riders on horseback. There is just something about a cowboy or cowgirl in the saddle of a beautiful horse that send me back to the days of yesteryear. As a fan of the show Yellowstone (I know, I know, but allow me one indulgence) there is something special about a horse and rider. In DeKalb Saturday morning there were plenty of those to be seen, and it made me smile to take their picture, You can see a few of those on Page 15 of this paper.
