Sue Anderson says the succThe athletes of Bowie’s Best Special Olympics team will be returning to state track and field competition for the first time in three years.
“This is the first year since COVID shut us down that we’ve been able to go back,” said Shannon Norman. “They started back last year, but this is the first year that the regulations have been released where they don’t have to wear masks which was hard on many of these guys.”
Norman and Donna Montgomery, both special education teachers at New Boston High School, head the team of athletes hailing from all across Bowie County that range in age from 9-year-old Reice Wynn from DeKalb to 54-year-old Steven Parker.
