Crook finishes Top Ten at Miss Texas Teen

New Boston native and 2022 Miss Texarkana Outstanding Teen Hannah Crook made a big showing recently at the Miss Texas Outstanding Teen competition held in Richardson, Texas June 19-25. Hannah was a top 10 semi-finalist and won a $500 scholarship for her rookie appearance at the prestigious event, which is part of the Miss America Organization.

Hannah’s pageant experience lasted nine days, many of which consisted of a grueling 12 to 14 hour rehearsal schedule. She competed in talent, interview, evening gown, on-stage question, and lifestyle and fitness categories. Her talent was a vocal rendition of “I See the Light” from Disney’s “Tangled.”

Although it was her first time to compete in such a big production, Hannah said she came into the pageant well prepared. “Never being there before was a game-changer,” she said. “I am so used to small town pageants where competition only lasts one day. Being there for nine days was totally different from anything I’ve ever experienced. There were lights and cameras everywhere. There was a floating camera that would actually get right in your face when you were competing, and all the sudden you would see yourself on the big screen – it was so cool. As far as being onstage though, I had a lot of experience during one act play and other pageants, and I had watched all of the YouTube videos from years before so I knew what to expect. I love the stage, that’s just who I am, and you could tell the difference between the theater kids and the others who were not.”
