Annual Back to School Bash set for August 8 in New Boston

Annual Back to School Bash set for August 8 in New Boston

Going back to school this year will be just a little bit different, but there is one thing that has not changed. That is the fact that students are still going to need school supplies. School supplies are not always the cheapest thing to buy either. Sometimes it can be a bit difficult for some people.

Plentiful Harvest Church is looking to help with what they can. Even though the event is held by and at Plentiful Harvest Church, Robert and Beth Little in charge of the event had one thing to say. “We do not want people to view this as a Plentiful Harvest Church thing. We want people to see this as an event to help the community and a chance for the community to come together. We do not want this to be about us. We have been doing this for three years now, and every year this has been the same standpoint for us. This is about helping those in need and bringing the community together. While our main focus has been the Western end of Bowie County, we do not turn anyone away in need. We have people from all over the area that come and we are happy to help them.”

Doing what they can to help is what this event is all about. In the past they have had plenty of things for the young ones to do, but with the pandemic going on they will be doing things a little bit differently this year. They have had to cut back on some of the things that they usually plan on doing.

According to Robert though they will still be doing all that they can. “Usually we make plans to make sure to feed the kids and a few other things. This year though we are not going to be able to do that with everything going on with COVID. This year we will be doing a drive-thru type of style. People will drive up and receive a backpack full of school supplies. We will also be doing haircuts as well. We have three different people this year who will be cutting hair. This is completely free, of course. When you get there just let us know and we will get you fixed up.”
