Community Spotlight-Dot Martin

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” – Winnie the Pooh

Dot Martin and the students and staff at Malta ISD could all relate to this sentiment this week.  Mrs. Martin, after 26 years of service, first as a teacher’s aide, then as school secretary, retired this week.  It was a bittersweet moment for all involved. 

“I first began work at Malta in August of 1995 as an aide in special education, and I knew immediately that Malta was a school like no other,” Martin remembered.  “It’s like a family here.  And not just the staff, but also the students, their parents and grandparents – they have been my life for the past 26 years.”
