Dora L. Burden Rumsey Barling of De Kalb, Texas passed away Sunday April 2, 2023 at a Texarkana, Texas emergency room. She was 84.
Dora was born July 4, 1938 in the College Hill Community of De Kalb, Texas to Boyce Benson and Hesper Luvenia Sifford Burden. She retired from De Kalb ISD where she taught secondary education for 40 years. Dora was a member of Tapp United Methodist Church in New Boston.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands, Edward Dale Rumsey and James Foster Barling.
She is survived by one son, Ronnie Rumsey of De Kalb, Texas; one granddaughter, Tracy Rumsey Curry and her husband, Timothy of Dallas, Texas; one grandson, Stacy Dale Rumsey of Texarkana, Texas; three great grandchildren, Nora River Curry, Caroline Curry, Melissa Hackett, and Ezra Dale Rumsey; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Robby Bates officiating. Interment will follow at College Hill Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.
Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, April 7, 2023 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas. Memorials may be made to College Hill Cemetery, c/o Greg Hawkins, 111 N. Houston, De Kalb, TX 75559.
