ROBERT “BOB” LOONEY WATTS

Robert “Bob” Looney Watts age 80 died peacefully at his assisted living facility in Richardson, Texas on March 4, 2023.


Bob was born to E. M. Watts and Dorothy Nell Looney Watts on December 4, 1942 and raised in New Boston, a hometown that he loved.


He graduated from East Texas College and served honorably in the 1st Cavalry Division of the Army in Vietnam from 1968-1969. He later moved to South Texas where he met and married Beverly Welborn and they raised their family of three sons. He worked in the insurance and auto repair business.


Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly, and his brother Elie Watts. Survivors include, brother Billy Watts (Carolyn Terral), sister Louann Watts, sister in-law Dottie Watts, sons Slade Watts and Cale Watts of Dallas, and Ross Watts of Austin. Grandchildren Madilyn, Brynlee, Rylan, and Hixon, all in the Dallas Area, nephew Glen Watts, and two first cousins Ronnie Looney and Jetty Looney Duffer.


Bob was of the Baptist faith. He loved his family and friends in New Boston and growing up working with horses and playing baseball in high school and college.


A memorial service was held in Dallas for family and friends March 18, 2023 and a graveside service will be at a later date at Read Hill Cemetery in New Boston.
