James 4:8, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” (NKJV) Complete freedom. This is my thought when I read James 4:8. I can see somebody walking towards God, and God loving, passionately, with powerful force and a huge smile on His face walking towards that person.
When God walks toward you, everything that He is, is walking toward you. As you draw near to God, He is drawing near to you with His indescribable presence, power, provision, peace and freedom. When we have submitted our life to the Lord, we’re like a seed planted in the most fertile ground imaginable. We are destined to succeed in everything that we put our hands to when we are led by the Lord.
As you wholeheartedly draw near to God, it becomes hard to do anything outside of the will of God. I love watching young children run with every ounce of energy they have towards their father. They are laughing and shouting and they don’t care who is around them. They have no other desire but to get to their Dad. Then the dad usually bends down picks them up, hugs them tight and then lifts them up and tosses them up. This is how I see God reacting to each one of His children as they run towards Him in their daily walk with Him. As they read the Word, spend time in prayer, worship and seeking Him with all of their heart, He keeps coming closer and closer.
