On March 3, 1965, Johnnie Ray Akins was born to the late Johnie and JoAnn Akins. He was a member of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He remained in the Beaver Dam Community.
Ray lead quite a life. He loved his family. He had an avid affection for his 1973 Chevy truck. In 1988 he married Janice and gained a bonus daughter.
To this union, two children were born and they became a blended family. Johnnie Ray made his transition on November 17, 2022.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bobby Ray Akins.
He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Trevor Akins of De Kalb, Texas; two daughters, Vanity Akins of De Kalb, Texas and Kapricia Reynolds of Glenn Heights, Texas; two sisters, LaWanda Bruce of Queen City, Texas and Jean Shavers of Kingwood, Texas; six grandchildren, Jamarius Easter of Glenn Heights, Texas, Jakedrian Akins of De Kalb, Texas, Jadarian Akins of De Kalb, Texas, Jaylon Akins of Glenn Heights, Texas, Caleb Reynolds of Glenn Heights, Texas, and Jalayah Bruce of Queen City, Texas; one niece, Faith Shavers of Kingwood, Texas; and numerous other family members and friends.
Services were held at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Rev. Kevin Haywood officiating. Interment was at Beaver Dam Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.
