CHARLOTTE STEED ‘NANA’ TUGGLE


Lois Coleman of De Kalb, Texas passed away Friday, December 2, 2022 at a Texarkana, Texas care facility. She was 94.


Lois was born August 25, 1928 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Churchill David and Bertie Midkiff Starkey.


She was a retired travel clerk for Red River Army Depot. Lois was an active member of Malta Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught the ladies Sunday School class. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting and it thrilled her to gift her beautiful creations to friends and family. She loved her family and spending time with them brought her so much joy. Everyone felt special and welcome in her home. Lois was a prayer warrior her whole life; lifting friends, family, and strangers alike in prayer. “Mamaw” as she was known by her grandkids and great grandkids will missed greatly, and her memory will be cherished.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Coleman; two sisters; two brothers; and two sons, Kenneth Wayne Coleman and Paul David Coleman.


She is survived by one son, Mike Coleman of De Kalb, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Ellen Coleman of Malta, Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Sheila Starkey of Texarkana, Texas and Jim and Beth Starkey of Hooks, Texas; five grandchildren, Kyle Coleman and his wife, Lindsi of Springdale, Arkansas, Shawn Coleman of Hooks, Texas; Clint Coleman of West Monroe, Louisiana; Frank Coleman of Texarkana, Texas; and Jason Coleman and his wife, Sharla of Highland Village, Texas; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.


Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Malta Baptist Church in Malta, Texas with Rev. Todd Reed, Rev. Shawn Bailey, and Rev. Kelley Shanks officiating. Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Simms, Texas under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.


Visitation will be held 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Malta Baptist Church in Malta, Texas.
