Sylvia Joy Calvit, of Tyler, Texas, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022 at a Kilgore, Texas care facility. She was 91.
Sylvia was born November 11, 1931, in Lamesa, Texas, to Archie Davis and Iva Mae Barnes Moore. On December 30, 1948, she was married to Clarence Calvit in the Spring Hill Community of De Kalb, Texas. She was a loving mother and worked in the family business until moving to Hereford, Texas, where she established her own successful business. She was a member of Primitive Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 73 years, Clarence Calvit in 2021; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Deenie and Paul Robinett and Darlene and Harold Russell; and a brother and sisterin-law, Weldon and Carolyn Moore. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Dwayne Peace of Tyler, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rickey and Linda Calvit of Texarkana, Texas and Mark and Tracy Calvit of Gladewater, Texas; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Brad and Kelli Calvit, Kim and Mike DuPas, Matthew Peace, Jonathan and Stefanni Peace, Kris and Jen Wetzel, Jillian and Stephen Nava and Jessica Calvit; seven great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
